Myrcianthes pungens has a native range that stretches from Central Brazil to Central Argentina. This plant is one of the most cold tolerant and fastest growing Myrtaceae from South America. It has grown exponentially since being planted in the ground and pushes multiple large growth flushes each year. The fruit is said to taste like Jaboticabas, but are not as large.
